Description
Ellagic acid, also known as TBBD, Gallogen, and Lagistase, blocks the methylation of arginine 17 of histone 3 (H3R17) by coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1/PRMT4), without significantly altering histone acetylase or DNA methyltransferase activity. Ellagic acid can also alter cytochrome P450 activity, improve metabolism and clearance of xenobiotics, and alter immune function.
